Istanbul Builders Bootcamp Postmortem
🏙️ We were very excited about the Builders Bootcamp we organised in Istanbul🎉 The Sandbox is proud to present the event for creatives in Turkey.
The Sandbox was in Istanbul on 5–6 July as part of its Builders Bootcamp, a worldwide initiative to develop new programmes and innovative ways for creatives to succeed. Only 30 special guests were able to attend this special event.
Event Summary
Our participants had the opportunity to learn hands-on for two days with experts from The Sandbox’s level design team and meet other creators. For their participation, they will receive the CATALYST package, LAND and SAND bonus for Experiences built using Game Maker 0.10.
1st Day: Learning the Game Maker Rules System
The first day of the Bootcamp started with the opening speech of Arslan Kieran, Head of Growth Turkey.
Afterwards, the training started without slowing down with breakfast. The Game Rules System, which is essential for developing impressive and dynamic gaming experiences, was explained in detail. The use of Heads-Up Display (HUD) was explored and the practice of using Preset and Debug tools was gained.
2nd Day: Exploring Game Genres and Increasing Player Interaction
The second day of Bootcamp focused on various game genres.
We dived deep into five popular game genres and explored their mechanics. Innovative techniques were learnt and the potential of custom game options was explored.

NFT & Digital Certificate for Participants
In our Builders Bootcamp event, NFT and Digital Certificates specially prepared for our participants in cooperation with Utilify were distributed.
Memorabilia NFT
NFT was given to everyone who participated in the Builders Bootcamp as a “Memorabilia NFT”. This NFT digitally represents the participants’ assets and contributions at The Sandbox event on the blockchain.
Digital Certificate
The “Digital Certificate” developed on the blockchain in cooperation with Utilify documents the knowledge and experience gained by the participants of the Istanbul Builders Bootcamp. These awards will be an important reference point in the future projects and careers of our participants.
As The Sandbox, we will continue to organise new programmes and events to help our creators succeed. The Builders Bootcamp in Istanbul is just the beginning of this journey. We will continue to support our creators with more events and training programmes in the future.
